SUMMARY OF ADMINISTRATIVE AND
SERVICE APPOINTMENTS
I. ASSOCIATE DEAN AND DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT: January 1998-August 2000
Responsible for all internal operations for the Collins School of Hospitality
Management, including supervising three technicians, four secretary staff, managing
a fine-dining restaurant laboratory, scheduling courses for 18 faculty and 600
hospitality students, organizing all special events and open houses, interacting
with 46 members of the School's Board of Advisors and administering the School's
overall operating budget of $1,300,000 in State funds and over $ 450,000 in
donations each year. As Director of Development, responsible for all external
funding and events. Sole administrative responsibility four days a week during
the first six months when the Dean was absent from campus and for two months
during the transition from an outgoing Dean to a permanent incoming Dean. Accomplishments
included:
· Led the development of the School's first Strategic Plan.
· Designed an aggressive student recruitment campaign to reverse 10-year
downward enrollment trend. The successful campaign increased enrollment from
fewer than 400 students in January 1998 to over 600 hospitality students in
August 2000.
· Assisted in completing a $5 million capital campaign for expanding
the School's facilities.
· In consultation with university architects, hired an architectural
firm and directed the design of a 22,500 square foot expansion of the Collins
School teaching and learning facilities.
· Assisted in securing a $10 million endowment gift, the largest endowment
gift to an academic unit in the history of the California State University system.
· More than doubled available scholarship funds to hospitality students
from $60,000 to over $130,000 each year.
· Assisted in securing new kitchen equipment for the School's demonstration
auditorium, teaching laboratories and production kitchen of the Restaurant at
Kellogg Ranch.
· Supervised and coordinated the School's annual fund raising event,
Harvest Auction. Raised revenue generation from $300,000 to over $450,000 per
event, and increased attendance and donation levels by at least 30%. Inaugurated
having celebrity special guests for Harvest Auction, including Robert and Margrit
Mondavi for Harvest Auction 1999 and Julia Child for Harvest Auction 2000.
· Led a successful search for a permanent Director of Development.
II. CHAIR OF THE BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES DEPARTMENT: 1991-1998

Biotechnology, and the
Master's Degree in Biology) to nearly 1000 majors, supervising seven technicians
and two secretary staff,
managing 24-hour care facilities for living organisms, and administering an
overall operating budget of
$3,500,000 per year. Despite severe budget cuts during this period, I led the
