The Cal Poly Pomona Formula SAE Racing Team is part of the Society of Automotive Engineers which is an international society dedicated to the advancement of mobility in land, sea, air and space. As a part of the racing team, student members are in charge of designing and fabricating formula-style racecars for an annual competitions held in Detroit, Michigan or Fontana, California.

At competition, industry professionals judge students and their vehicles in static presentations and dynamic track events where students have the opportunity to showcase their knowledge and prove their designs.   Leading companies support and participate in Formula SAE events to help train, educate, and excite the next generation of engineers and have a chance to recruit these sought after students.
