Christopher L. Caenepeel, Selected as macebearer for his many years of distinguished service, Dr. Caenepeel started teaching at Cal Poly Pomona in 1970 after earning his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. His areas of interest include Fluidized Catalytic Cracking, Process Simulation, Nonlinear Optimization, and Natural Gas Fueled Burners Evaluation. From 1990-2001 Dr. Caenepeel was the Director of the Engineering Interdisciplinary Clinic, and he was the Co-Director of the Faculty Student Mentoring Program from 1988-1990. In 2005 and 2006 Dr. Caenepeel served as Department Chair for the Chemical and Materials Engineering Department. Dr. Caenepeel’s industry experience includes work throughout the United States. He worked in Ohio as a Research Engineer for Standard Oil of Ohio, and also as a Research Scientist for NASA-Lewis Space Research Center, Apollo Program. He spent a year working in North Carolina as a Staff Engineer for the Environmental Protection Agency, and worked for several years in Illinois as a Staff Research Engineer for Amoco, conducting chemical research and oil research. Dr. Caenepeel has taught a variety of courses at all levels, secured contracts totaling more than $2 million, and is the author of many articles, reports, and presentations. He is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Chemical Engineering in California. As an active member since 1964 of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) he has served on national meeting committees, assisted with local meeting programs, and served as Secretary and Chair for the Southern California Section. AIChE is the worlds leading organization for chemical engineering professionals, with more than 40,000 members from 93 countries. |
