Windows Vista
Set up Your Wireless Connection
Click
on the
start button
>
Control Panel
.
From the Control Panel window,
click
on the
Network and Sharing Center
icon.
From the Network and Sharing Center window,
click
on the “
Set up a connection or network
”.
From the connection window:
Click
on “
Manually connect to a wireless network
”.
Click Next
.
On the "Manually connect to a wireless network" window,
enter
the following information:
Cal Poly's wireless network name is:
CPP
.
Security type:
802.1x
Be sure the following options are checked:
Check
the box: “
Start this connection automatically
”.
Check
the box: “
Connect even if the network is not broadcasting
”.
Click
the
Next
button.
Click
and choose the option to “
Change connection settings
”.
From the CPP Wireless Network properties window,
click
on the
Security
tab.
From the Security tab:
Select
802.1x
for Security type.
Select
WEP
for Encryption type.
Select
Protected EAP (PEAP)
for network authentication.
Click
on the
Setting
button.
From the Protected EAP Properties window:
Uncheck
the option to “
Validate server certificate
”.
Click
on the “
Configure
” button.
From the EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties:
Uncheck
the option to “
Automatically use my Windows logon name ..
”.
Click
on the “
OK
” button.
For the Select Authentication Method window, verify that the "Enable Fast Reconnect" box is checked and
click
the “
OK
” button.
Windows Vista confirms that CPP was added successfully.
Click
on the “
Connect to..
” option.
On the Select a network to connect to window:
Select
the
CPP
wireless connection.
Click
on the “
Connect
” button.
Windows Vista prompts for additional and required logon information. Select and
click
“
Enter/Select additional log on information
”.
Enter
your
BroncoName
and
Network password.

Vista will connect to the secure wireless network.
Vista confirms the authentication and connection to the secured CPP wireless network.
