Browsers: How to clear cache, cookies and delete history

 

Choose a browser:

 

IE 6 (Internet Explorer 6)

 

  1. Open IE 6.
  2. Select Tools > Internet Options from the Tool Bar Menu.
  3. Click Delete Cookies.


  4. Click OK.


  5. Click Delete Files.
  6. Check the box and click OK.


  7. Click OK to close the window.

IE 7 (Internet Explorer 7)

 

  1. Open IE 7.
  2. Select Tools.
  3. Select Delete Browsing History.


  4. Click on the Delete all button.
  5. Check the box and click Yes.

Safari

 

Delete Cookies:

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Click the Safari tab at the top.
  3. Select Preferences.


  4. Select the Security icon at the top of the window.
  5. Click on the “Show Cookies” button.


  6. Click on the “Remove All” button (confirm action if prompted).


  7. Click Done.

 

Clear the Cache:

  1. Click the Safari tab at the top.
  2. Select Empty Cache.


  3. Click Empty.

 

Delete History:

  1. Click the History tab at the top.
  2. Select Clear History.

Firefox 1.5 for Windows

 

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Select Tools > Options.
  3. Select the Privacy tab.
  4. Select Settings on the bottom of the window.


  5. Check the following boxes on the Clear Private Data dialogue box:
    1. Browsing History
    2. Saved Form Information
    3. Download History
    4. Cookies
    5. Cache
    6. Authenticated Sessions
    7. Clear private data when closing Firefox
  6. Click OK.


  7. Click Tools.
  8. Select Clear Private Data.

Firefox 2.0 for Windows

 

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Select Tools > Options.
  3. Select the Privacy tab.
  4. Check the "Ask me before clearing private data" box, and then select Settings.


  5. Check the following boxes on the Clear Private Data dialogue box:
    1. Browsing History
    2. Download History
    3. Saved Form Information
    4. Cache
    5. Cookies
    6. Authenticated Sessions
  6. Click OK.


  7. Click the Clear Now button.

Firefox 1.5 for Mac

 

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Click the Firefox tab at the top.
  3. Select Preferences.
  4. Select the Privacy tab.
  5. Select Settings at the bottom of the window.

  6. Check the following boxes under Private Data:
    1. Browsing History
    2. Saved Form Information
    3. Download History
    4. Cookies
    5. Cache
    6. Authenticated Sessions
    7. Under Settings, check the Clear private data when closing Firefox box.
  7. Click OK.


  8. Select Tools.
  9. Select Clear Private Data.

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Click the Firefox tab at the top.
  3. Select Preferences.
  4. Select the Privacy tab.
  5. On the Private Data dialogue window, check the Ask me before clearing private data box, and then select Settings.


  6. Check the following boxes:
    1. Browsing History
    2. Download History
    3. Saved Form Information
    4. Cache
    5. Cookies
    6. Authenticated Sessions
  7. Click OK.



  8. On the Private Data dialogue window, click the Clear Now button.
