SpamBayes

Using SpamBayes

Locating e-mails identified as Spam

Potential spam e-mails are moved by SpamBayes into a folder called "Junk Suspects," which is created by SpamBayes when it is first installed. In Microsoft Outlook this folder is listed with all of the other mail folders as follows:

Deleting Spam e-mails

To delete an e-mail in the "Junk Suspects" folder simply highlight the e-mail you wish to delete and click the "Delete As Spam" button on the SpamBayes toolbar.

Marking an e-mail as Spam

At first, SpamBayes may not catch every spam e-mail you receive, but you can train the program to be better at doing so by marking spam e-mails instead of just deleting them outright. To mark an e-mail as spam you can drag and drop the e-mail into the "Junk Suspects" folder.

Unmarking genuine e-mails

Just as SpamBayes will sometimes not catch a spam e-mail, it is possible for the program to mislabel a genuine e-mail. If you find a genuine e-mail in the "Junk Suspects" folder, highlight the mislabeled e-mail message and click the "Recover from Spam" button on the SpamBayes toolbar to return the e-mail to your Inbox.
