Email Account Information

Client Setup Instruction Guides: EXCHANGE - Secure Socket Layer (SSL) MAPI: Outlook 2007: Vista

Note: We are ensuring that our email is even more secure by supporting "Secure Socket Layer" (SSL) for our Webmail, POP, IMAP and SMTP servers.

If you need to send or receive email before completing configuration of your local email client, you can still access email through your web browser interface at:

https://exchange.csupomona.edu.

Note: This guide assumes that you are connected to the campus network or connected via VPN (Virtual Private Network) from a remote location. To create a VPN connection, see eHelp's VPN tutorial at http://www.csupomona.edu/~ehelp/vpn/index.html.

 

  1. Open Microsoft Office 2007 to view the Outlook 2007 Startup or welcome screen. For instructions on adjusting settings for a previously-configured Outlook 2007, go to the section titled Adjusting Settings for a Previously-Configured Outlook 2007.
    1. Click Next.
  2. You will be asked if you would like to configure an email account.
    1. Click the Yes button.
    2. Click Next.
  3. You will now be asked if you want to connect to an Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP server.
    1. Choose the Microsoft Exchange Server option.
    2. Click Next.
  4. Place a check mark next to the option “Manually configure server settings..”.
    1. Click Next.
  5. Select Microsoft Exchange.
    1. Click Next.


  6. On the Microsoft Exchange Settings dialog window:
    1. For the Microsoft Exchange Server, enter: outlook.csupomona.edu.
    2. Enter your username, this is the first part of your email address (e.g.: bbronco and NOT bbronco@csupomona.edu).
  7. Click on the “More Settings..” button.


  8. On the Microsoft Exchange Settings window:
    1. Click on the Security Tab.
    2. Check mark the Encryption option.
    3. ChooseNegotiate Authentication” under the Logon network security section.
    4. Click OK button.
    5. Click Next button.
    6. Click the Finish button.
    7. Click the Close button.


  9. If you are connected via our campus network or via VPN, you will connect successfully.

    NOTE: Your name will be underlined.

    1. Click Next.
    2. Click Finish.
  10. Your email messages will begin to download and might take some time, depending on the speed of your connection and the amount of messages stored in your Exchange Server mailbox.

 

Adjusting Settings for a Previously-Configured Outlook 2007

  1. Open Outlook:
    1. Click on the Tools menu.
    2. Select Account Options.
  2. On the Account Settings window:
    1. Select the Exchange configuration.
    2. Click on the “Change...” button.


  3. Go to Step 7.
