Client Setup Instruction Guides: EXCHANGE - Secure Socket Layer (SSL) POP3: Outlook 2007: Vista
Note: We are ensuring that our email is even more secure by supporting "Secure Socket Layer" (SSL) for our Webmail, POP, IMAP and SMTP servers.
If you need to send or receive email before completing configuration of your local email client, you can still access email through your web browser interface at:
https://exchange.csupomona.edu.
- Launch Outlook 2007.
- If this is your first time launching Outlook 2007:
- Select and click Internet Email , and then continue on to Step 5.
- Click the Tools menu, and select Account Settings.

- Under the Email tab, click New.

- If you are prompted to choose Email server, select Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP.
- Click Next.

- On the Auto Account Setup page, check the box next to “Manually configure server settings or additional server types”.
- Click Next.

- Select the radio button for Internet Email.
- Click Next.

- On the Internet Email Settings page, enter the following information:
- Your name
- Email address
- Account Type: POP3
- Incoming mail server: exchange.csupomona.edu
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.csupomona.edu
- User Name: Your BroncoName
- Password: Your BroncoPassword
- Then click More Settings.

- Click the Outgoing Server tab:
- Check the box for “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authorization”.
- Make sure that the radio button next to "Log on using" is selected.
- Enter your BroncoName and Network Password.
Note: Your network password is NOT the same as your email password, which is more commonly referred to as your BroncoPassword.

- Click the Advanced tab:
- Place a check mark next to the box "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)".
- Change the Incoming server (POP3) port to 995.
- Change the Outgoing server (SMTP) port to 465.
- Change the drop-down menu next to "Use the following type of encrypted connection" to SSL.
- Under the Delivery section, place a check mark in the box next to "Leave a copy of messages on the server".
- Place a check mark in the box next to "Remove from server when deleted from the 'Deleted Items'".
- Click OK.

- You should find yourself on the Internet E-mail Settings page.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
