Active Directory Account

The Active Directory environment has been configured to synchronize automatically with the Intranet and operates under the "win" domain. Therefore, any services such as Exchange that require an Active Directory account rely on the Intranet username and password in which to authenticate.

All students, staff, and faculty members are automatically issued Active Directory accounts. Because this account "syncs" with the Intranet, your Intranet username and password are the same. Consequently, when you change your Intranet password on My Control Panel, you also change your Active Directory (exchange) password.

Blackboard

Blackboard is a way to provide students with a password-protected online learning environment. It can be configured to give campus organizations, departments, and colleges or schools management of their own site. It can be used to supplement the traditional classroom, to teach a course partially online, or to become the foundation for a totally online course. Faculty needing assistance with setting up their courses on Blackboard may contact Pauline Salim at extension 6429. To log into Blackboard, please click on the following site: http://blackboard.csupomona.edu.

BroncoDirect

BroncoDirect is an all-in-one system that will be used to keep the campus community connected with many of the student services Cal Poly Pomona provides such as admissions information, class scheduling, registration, grading, academic advisement, and financial aid.

Exchange Account

Exchange accounts are standard for staff, faculty members and students. To learn more about Exchange, click here. Your Exchange account uses your BroncoName and BroncoPassword.

Intranet Account

All Cal Poly Pomona students, staff, and faculty members are automatically provided an Intranet account. An Intranet account uses the BroncoName and BroncoPassword. Your BroncoName will be the first part of your Cal Poly Pomona email address (i.e. billybronco@csupomona.edu).

To configure your Intranet account, login and click the "Account" tab on My Control Panel.

This account allows you to create personal and/or department web sites, download software, and access your personal network files. More information about the Intranet can be found by clicking here. When you get an Intranet account you get 50 MB of storage space on the system that you can then use for files and programs as well as your home page. Some advantages of the Intranet are as follows:

  1. You can access your files from almost anywhere on and off campus.
  2. Groups can be formed from users having common interests like the students in a class, the students in a club, the faculty and staff in a department.
  3. You can control which individuals and/or groups have access to the material in your Intranet account.
  4. You can find out how much disk space you have left from My Control Panel (the Summary tab).
  5. You can control access to your files, test the links of your Web pages and so forth from the Intranet's home page, http://www.csupomona.edu/intranet/services.
  6. The Intranet has "central authentication". Once you log into a session you will be able to access all "restricted sites" to which you have been granted access without having to re-enter your password.
  7. You can "mount" a directory either as an Appleshare Volume or as a Windows Share to your desktop when accessing your Intranet files, web pages, or software. Its contents are on the Intranet rather than the hard disk of your computer. To find out more about mounting a directory to the Intranet, click here. Further information can also be found under "File and Directory Services" on http://www.csupomona.edu/intranet/services.

Network Account

Your network account is used to provide access to various networking services. You will use your network account to access the wireless network, vpn, and off-campus SMTP authentication.

Your network account consists of a username and password. Your username will be the same username as your Intranet account (as described above). However, your password will be different.

To set or change your network account password:

  1. Log on to My Control Panel (link opens in a new window).
    1. Enter your BroncoName and BroncoPassword when prompted.
  2. Once you have logged in, choose the "Account" tab and scroll down to "Network Password".
  3. Enter your new network password into the "new network password" field.
  4. Once you have entered your password twice, select the "Network Password" button to submit your changes.

NOTE: Your network password may NOT be the same password as your BroncoPassword. Remember, although your BroncoPassword and network password use the same username, they are two different accounts. You may set your network password at any time and it will take effect immediately.
