Computer viruses, worms and trojans are real threats to the integrity of your computer system, email, and other data. This site will help you as a Cal Poly Pomona student, staff, or faculty member to better understand, prevent, scan and clean all types of virus infections.
Viruses, worms, and trojans can spread and infect computers in a number of different ways such as through email messages, word documents, or even simply through an Internet connection. Therefore, it is important that you take the necessary steps in securing your computer environment from possible infections.
All Cal Poly Pomona email messages and attachments are scanned by our email server antivirus software (known as Sophos) before they are delivered to your email account. This significantly reduces our risk of receiving a virus through the email system. However, because new viruses are continually appearing, there are times when a virus may pass through the email system. Consequently, there are steps you can personally take to help prevent such an infection - click here to learn more.
If you suspect or know that you have been infected by a virus, please follow the steps here or call the I&IT Help Desk at X6776 for assistance.
