Ornithology Links

There are many websites devoted to ornithology and birds. Here are a few, just to get you started:

  • Want to find out information about birds and/or ornithology on the Web? Start here at BIRDNET
  • The Ornithology Exchange - a new website which will serve as a central exchange of information by, for, and about ornithology. It will host discussion forums on a wide range of topics, including current research, permits, animal welfare, research ethics, methods, Q&A on writing papers, presenting talks, preparing posters, teaching, research funding, and many other topics of interest to ornithologists. Sponsored by all the major ornithological societies. You do NOT have to register at the site in order to view the job postings.
  • Cornell Lab of Ornithology - Cornell University
  • John Penhallurick's Bird Data Project - a comprehensive database to the birds of the world, including some extinct species
  • Avibase - database on birds of the world, hosted by Bird Studies Canada
  • The Wikipedia Ornithology page
  • Information and links about binoculars and spotting scopes

Or just Google "Ornithology". You'll get over 2.4 million hits.

NOTE: Effective Spring Quarter 2009, Ornithology has a new course number, and a new number of units: ZOO 435 (lecture, 3 units) / ZOO 435L (laboratory, 1 unit).
Any referernces to ZOO 329 or ZOO 329L should be disregarded.
