Coach Britt Sumida


After concluding a brilliant four-year playing career for the Broncos, Britt Sumida joins the women's basketball staff as a coaching assistant. Her main roles will be to monitor academic progress of student-athletes, manage the women's basketball web page, involvement in the Trophy Club and other assigned duties by the head coach.

Sumida was a team captain for the Broncos in two of her four years on the team. She was a top 3-point shooting threat and was known for her outstanding work ethic and aggressive style of play.

She was a member of the Broncos' national championship team in 2001-02 and played in 78 games during her Cal Poly Pomona career. She appeared in a career-high 25 last season and started 20 times.

Before coming to Cal Poly Pomona, Sumida was part of an Ayala High School team that won four consecutive Sierra League titles. She earned second-team All-Sierra League honors as a senior after averaging six points, two rebounds, seven assists and three steals per game. She was an academic scholar in four consecutive years.

She is completing her degree in kinesiology at Cal Poly Pomona. She was the recipient of the Darlene May Scholarship and also won the Bronco Award during her playing career. She was also the president of the Bronco Athletic Association during the 2004-05 academic year.

She enjoys spending time with family and friends and all outdoor activities
