Curricula in Math and Statistics

The Mathematics & Statistics Department offers a flexible program which may be adapted to serve a variety of needs and interests. The student may develop elective patterns which will prepare him/her for entry into employment in industry, government, and teaching. An essential part of the curricula involves early student exposure to exciting Careers in Math and Statistics.

Student Support in Mathematics

  • The Math Lab is located in building 8 room 147 and is staffed with experienced facilitators from 9am to 5 pm Monday to Friday.
  • Mathematics and Science Help Center (MaSH): MaSH Offers a "free" walk-in tutoring for Preparatory, and 100/200 Level Math and Statistics Classes. Hours: Monday & Wednesday 9:00am -8pm, Tuesday & Thursday 8:00am-8:00pm, Friday 9:00am-4:00pm, at Building 8 Room 157. MaSH Coordinator Cidni Grifith

LEARNING Communities

The Department has been awarded an Improving Teacher Quality Grant from the California Postsecondary Education Commission. The grant for the Math and Science Teacher Education, Recruitment, and Retention (MaSTER2) program is under the pipeline initiative with goals of improving the quantity and quality of teachers in math and science and establishing strong learning communities among local schools and the university.

Department Colloquium Series 2006-2007

The department sponsers a colloquium series featuring distinguished mathematicans and scientists covering a wide array of specialties in Mathematics and Statistics.
