ACADEMIC PROGRAMS in BIOTECHNOLOGY AT Cal Poly, Pomona descriptions and requirements for undergraduate and graduate programs in Biotechnology/Bioinformatics, Biochemistry , Cell and Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Ag Biotech, Business/Entrepreneurship at Cal Poly Pomona.
CSUPERB: The CSU Program for Education and Research in Biotechnology (CSUPERB) was created in 1987 by Chancellor Reynolds to provide a coordinated and amplified development of biotechnology and related research, research training, and education within the CSU. CSPERB is a multi-campus program designed to channel system-wide resources and catalyze interdisciplinary, inter-campus, synergistic endeavors involving Biology and Chemistry departments as well as Engineering, Agriculture and Computer Science. The interdisciplinary nature of biotechnology includes areas such as bioengineering; agricultural biotechnology; human pharmaceutical and health applications; environmental and natural resource biotechnology; molecular ecology; marine biotechnology; and bioinformatics and computational biology as they are applied to molecular questions. CSUPERB also recognizes basic research in the molecular and cellular life sciences as contributing to biotechnology. CSUPERB serves as the official liaison between the CSU and industry, government, the Congressional Biotechnology Caucus, and the public arena in all biotechnological matters. http://www.csuchico.edu/csuperb/index.htm.
Glenn M. Nagel Undergraduate Student Research Award: This award will foster excellence in undergraduate student research throughout the California State University system in biotechnology-related research covering a broad range of topics in cellular, molecular, and biochemical life sciences. http://www.csuchico.edu/csuperb/Sym07AwardNagel.htm#Purpose.
Cal Poly Pomona Cooperative Education: A program in which students earn academic credit under supervision of a faculty member for paid work experience related to his or her major or career goals.
