| POMONA
-- Cal Poly Pomona's men's basketball team has moved
into the NABC/Division II national rankings. The Broncos,
who were ranked fifth in the preseason, but fell out
of the Top 25 by the first regular-season poll, are
now ranked 25th in the country. The Broncos (16-5) were
also ranked 25th for one week last season on Jan. 21,
2003. Cal Poly Pomona has won 13 of its past 15 games
to move into the national spotlight. The Bronco men
are the defending NCAA Division II West Region champions.
Jeff Bonds (Jr., Compton, Mayfair HS) was the regional
tournament's Most Outstanding Player last year. Regional
rankings will be announced on Wednesday. |

ANGELES -- Cal Poly Pomona's men's basketball team won
its fifth straight game, defeating Cal State L.A., 68-56,
Saturday night in the Eagles' Nest. The Broncos (16-5,
12-4) have now won 13 of their last 15 games. Jonathan
Williams (Sr., Pasadena, John Muir HS) led the Broncos
with 19 points, while Jeff Bonds (Jr., Compton, Mayfair
HS) added 16 points and Michael Ridgway (Sr., Houston,

ANGELES -- Cal Poly Pomona's women's basketball team
won for the fifth time in its last six games, beating
Cal State L.A., 81-69, Saturday night in the Eagles'
Nest. Candice Allen (Sr., Ontario, University of Arizona),
the leading scorer in NCAA Division II, had a game-high
27 points and eight rebounds. Marisa Lattin (Sr., Oceanside,
El Camino HS) had 15 points and four rebounds. Keila
Beachem (Sr., Chicago, Ill., University of Kansas) added
12 points and eight rebounds, whle Brandi Fletcher (So.,
Pomona, Diamond Ranch HS) had 11 points and eight rebounds.

from Luis Carreras (So., San Dimas, Walnut HS), Chad
Burleson (Sr., La Habra, Fullerton JC) and Jeremey White
(Sr., Palmdale, Riverside CC) and swept a doubleheader
from Cal State San Bernardino, 11-2 and 4-2, Saturday
at Scolinos Field. Jason Stuck (Sr., Chino, Citrus College)
and Matt Stevens (Jr., Riverside, Rubidoux HS) had home

-- Cal Poly Pomona's men's tennis team fell to Abilene
Christian, 6-3, Sunday and finished fourth in the 2004
California Invitational at the Kellogg Tennis Complex.
Azusa Pacific defeated UC Davis, 8-1, to win the tourney
title. Cal Poly Pomona's David Nguyen (Sr., Los Angeles,
Beverly Hills HS) swept his matches for a third straight
day. Nguyen won at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-3 and teamed
with Guido Weidenfeld (Sr., Cologne, Germany) to win
at No. 1 doubles, 9-7. Weidenfeld also won at No. 3
