Tolano
Associate Athletic Director of Student Programs

Tolano begins her fifth year with the athletic department.
She is the Cheer Squad and Bronco Athletic Association advisor
and coordinates the development and implementation of student
activities for the department. She is responsible for the
supervision and production of all athletic department publications
including media guides, newsletters, brochures and selected
press releases. Tolano is also responsible for coordinating
special events for the department such as conference and NCAA
championships, Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, and the
end-of-year banquet. Tolano also assists in the maintenance
and development of the athletic department Web site and serves
as the liaison between the department’s coaches and
University Housing administrators.
In her tenure Tolano has assisted in fundraising strategies
to increase athletic department revenue, solicited private
and corporate sponsorships and supervised event staff.
A Cal Poly Pomona gradutate, Tolano brings a vast array of
professional experience and enthusiasm. She earned her bachelor's
degree in communication with an option in journalism in 2000.
From 1999-2000, Tolano was the News Editor of Cal Poly Pomona's
student newspaper, The Poly Post, overseeing a newsroom staff
of 15 reporters.
As president of Associated Students, Inc., Cal Poly Pomona's
student-body government, during the 1998-99 school year, Tolano
established "Power Pizza with the Presidents" to
increase student relations with the university and student
government presidents. She also assisted with the University's
first-ever BroncoFest that is an open house venue, which includes
activities, food, booths and entertainment focused at increasing
the awareness of Cal Poly Pomona to the community. She was
also involved with bringing Los Angeles Laker great Magic
Johnson to campus as a guest speaker. Her leadership continued
with appointments to the Athletic Board, University Educational
Trust Board, Alumni Association, Foundation Board, BroncoFest
and Academic Senate.
In her educational endeavors, Tolano was also ASI vice-president,
senator for the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences,
The Poly Post's Most Valuable Staff Member, a member of Kappa
Delta Sorority and has interned with The New York Times and
The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.
The 28-year-old Tolano graduated from William Workman High
School in City of Industry and is a resident of Upland.
