Facilities

Nestled among 1,400 acres of rolling hills, Cal Poly Pomona is the second largest campus of the 23 California State University campuses. At the hub of Southern California activities, the university is just an hour's drive from ski areas to the north, deserts to the east, beaches to the south and downtown Los Angeles to the west.

Recently, the Department of Athletics has undergone some capital facility improvements. The men's and women's track & field programs will benefit from the renovation of Kellogg Field during the summer of 2001. The facility will upgrade the track surface, in addition to adding new runways and pits for the high jump, pole vault and long/triple jump areas. A new site for the weight events (shot put, hammer) will also be part of the project. In 2002, Cal Poly Pomona will host it's first collegiate track meet since the 1994-95 school year. Benefiting from the upgrade will be men's and women's soccer who also compete at the 2,500-seat Kellogg Field.

For men's and women's tennis, the Cal Poly Pomona tennis courts are under going renovation. In the summer of 2001, the 10 on-campus courts will be resurfaced and lights will be added to the facility for night play. The women's volleyball program enjoys their high-energy matches in Darlene May Gymnasium. This summer (2001), Darlene May Gym will be furnished with a new floor. In the past year, Scolinos Field, home to Bronco baseball, has improved its field and facility conditions (fence, grass, hitter's screen). The Bronco men's and women's basketball teams compete in the 5,000 seat Kellogg Gymnasium, which received a new sound system in February 2001. The men's and women's cross country teams compete on the picturesque campus of Cal Poly Pomona as well as the beautiful lakeside of Prado Park in Chino, California.

The Butler Building located at Kellogg Field is getting a make over too. The Butler Building is the weight/conditioning center for Cal Poly Pomona student-athletes. The free weight facility will be available for all Cal Poly Pomona students for the first-time ever in the Fall of 2001.
