Bio

Peter’s recognized expertise is in the competitive and structural analysis of the fiber, textile and apparel industries and their markets.  His research into the dynamics of these industries has embraced strategic, marketing, organizational and supply chain management issues as well as the impact of new information technologies.  He is the author of some 70+ publications based on international textile and apparel industry dynamics.  He has worked extensively with textile and apparel manufacturers in Europe, Asia and the USA, investigating competitive dynamics and market trends across a spectrum of fiber, textile, apparel and related sectors.

Bio

After studying clothing and textiles and business administration at undergraduate level, Dr Im worked in the apparel industry as a merchandiser with FUBU Korea.  This experience provided her with invaluable knowledge about the global apparel business, apparel product development, and brand management.  Subsequently, while working on her Masters degree, she joined Umbro Korea.  Working closely with their worldwide marketing teams, she gained important experience in the creation and management of brands in an international context.  Dr Im joined Cal Poly in fall 2007 after completion of her PhD in … at the Ohio State University. In pursuing a Ph.D Dr Im developed a new interest in consumer behavior.  Dr Im combines commercial experience with advanced theoretical knowledge in psychology to address research and interests in product development, branding, and consumer behavior.

Bio

Before joining Cal Poly Pomona, Dr. Senanayake worked as an Assistant Professor at Kansas State University, as an Adjunct Professor at the Berkeley College, West Patterson, NJ  and as a Research & Development Manager at Maidenform Brands, Inc. in USA.  His overseas work experience includes a managerial position in product development, operations management and business process improvement in a major corporation and a faculty position in the Department of Textile and Clothing Technology, University of Moratuwa, both in Sri Lanka. While in Sri Lanka, he has also worked as a management consultant to the Sri Lankan apparel industry.

Research

The focus of Dr. Senanayake’s research is in mass customization and personalization, technology management, functional apparel product development and mixed mass production/mass customization apparel manufacturing.  Specifically he is interested in using and integrating technologies for mass customization and mass customized apparel manufacturing such as three dimensional body scanning, digital printing, virtual technologies, co-design through configurators, CAD, 3D technologies, online personalization and manufacturing simulation and modeling.  He is also interested in sustainable textile and apparel product development and manufacturing.
