  Math Diagnostic Placement Test (MDPT)
All pre-baccalaureate mathematics courses have a test prerequisite and all general education mathematics/statistics courses have prerequisites that may be satisfied by a placement test or by course work.  These prerequisites must be satisfied within certain time limits.

The Mathematics Department offers the CSU/UC Mathematics Diagnostic Placement Test (MDPT) each quarter to assist students to meet these prerequisites.

If you answer YES  to one or more questions below, you may need to take the MDPT.

Do you want to take calculus?
Do you want to take college algebra or trigonometry and don't have a SAT score of 550 or higher or an ACT score of 23 or higher?
Will your ELM score be more than one year old when you start classes?
Will your SAT, ACT, or AP score be more than 18 months old when you start classes?
Will your last college math course (higher than intermediate algebra, completed with a C or better) be more than nine months old when you start classes?
Contact the Mathematics Department at (909) 869-3142 for information, or visit their website for registration and test dates.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
All applicants, regardless of citizenship, who have not completed at least three years of full-time enrollment at a secondary and/or college/university-level where English is the principal language of instruction are required to submit a TOEFL score.

All scores submitted must have been earned within two years of the application date. Further information on TOEFL testing may be obtained at no charge by writing to 'Test of English as a Foreign Language, Box 889, Princeton, New Jersey 08541 USA' or on their website.

The following is the minimum TOEFL score for admission:

  •  a score of 525 on the paper test; or
  •  a score of 195 on the computer-based test
To be exempt from having to meet the TOEFL requirement a student must have completed six full-time semesters in which English is the primary language of instruction. Semesters cannot be combined.
