All applicants should have outstanding academic qualifications and satisfactory TOEFL (Test of English As a Foreign Language) scores. For further information about the TOEFL, please access www.toefl.com.  You may also contact the U.S. Embassy in your country for TOEFL information.

Applicants are required to certify that they agree to purchase the University's health insurance policy each year of enrollment at Cal Poly Pomona.  Health insurance premiums (approximately $500 per year) will be part of the student's first quarter billing.

All admitted students will be required to submit proof of measles and rubella immunizations before the beginning of their second quarter and obtain immunizations free of charge from the Student Health Center.

All undergraduate students must complete testing requirements unless exempt.
 

Financial Requirements:  Applicants must provide certification of financial eligibility to meet the cost of education at Cal Poly Pomona as part of the admission process in order to be issued an I-20 immigration form.

The approximate estimated cost for one academic year of education is currently (2002-03) $19,200 for undergraduates and $17,100 for graduates. These figures include living expenses based on three quarters of coursework.  Applicants with dependents are required to have the following additional funds available each year: $5,000 for a spouse and $3,000 per child.

First-time freshmen applications are accepted for Fall term only.  You are considered a first-time freshmen if you are currently in high school, or have completed college units during the summer immediately following high school graduation and have NOT taken any college coursework following the summer of your graduation.

The following requirements must be satisfied by first-time freshmen applicants:

• Completion of a comprehensive pattern of college preparatory study with grades of "C" or better in all subjects is required. High school grade point average and test scores are used together to determine eligibility.
• Graduates of U.S. high schools, accredited international high schools, and U.S. dependent's high schools overseas must submit an American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Graduates of foreign schools are not required to submit an ACT or SAT score. A high school grade point average of B/3.0 or better (A=4.0) for study since 10th grade is required.
• Two copies of official high school transcripts/marksheets need to be provided for each year of study since 9th grade. Official copies of high school graduation certificate/diploma are also required if applicable.
• Official documents in languages other than English must include certified English translation.

Architecture is an "impacted program" and closed to international applicants.

• A grade point average of C+/2.5 (A=4.0) or better in all acceptable level course work
• Completed at least 30 semester (45 quarters) units of college courses which include: English Composition, College Math, Speech (Vocabulary) Communication, and Critical Thinking/Logic.
• Two copies of official transcripts/marksheets are needed for study at each college attended. Official copies of diploma/graduation certificate are also required, if applicable.
• Official documents in languages other than English must include certified English translation.
• All 60 transferable semester college units must be completed by: end of the previous spring for Fall Quarter*, end of the previous summer for Winter Quarter, end of the previous fall for Spring Quarter, and end of the previous fall for Summer Quarter.

Graduate & Post baccalaureates:

• A minimum C+/2.5 (A=4.0) in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units
• Two copies of official transcripts/marksheets are needed for study at each college attended. Official copies of diploma/graduation certificate are also required, if applicable.
• Official documents in languages other than English must include certified English translation.
